DONALD Trump has spoken out following the announcement that Governor Tim Walz will be Kamala Harris’ running mate on the Democratic ticket.
The governor of Minnesota emerged as a last-minute dark horse candidate for the Democratic ticket after weeks of speculation.
The critiques quickly came flooding in after the announcement on Tuesday morning with Republicans slamming the ticket.
Trump didn’t hold back when addressing the ticket on his Truth Social account writing, “This is the most Radical Left duo in American history. There has never been anything like it, and there never will be again.
“Crazy Kamabla is, indeed, CRAZY. I HEAR THERE IS A BIG MOVEMENT TO ‘BRING BACK CROOKED JOE.’”
Trump’s campaign called Walz “dangerously liberal” in an email to supporters and claimed he would “unleash hell on Earth.”
Donald Trump’s son, Don Jr. simply wrote, “Yikes!!!” on X in response to the news.
The former president’s team also released a statement on the official Democratic ticket.
His campaign statement read, “It’s no surprise that San Francisco Liberal Kamala Harris wants West Coast wannabe Tim Walz as her running mate – Walz has spent his governorship trying to reshape Minnesota in the image of the Golden State.”
He went on to claim Walz only pretended to support Americans and believed rural America is “mostly cows and rocks.”
“From proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide,” the statement continued.
“If Walz won’t tell voters the truth, we will: just like Kamala Harris, Tim Walz is a dangerously liberal extremist, and the Harris-Walz California dream is every American’s nightmare.”
Trump’s running mate Ohio Senator JD Vance spoke to Fox News while boarding his plane.
Vance said he left Walz a voicemail congratulating him on the news and was looking forward to a “robust conversation.”
However, his claws came out when a reporter asked Vance to comment on Walz.
Vance called Walz a “San Francisco liberal” and called the governor’s record a “joke.”
When asked if he’d debate Walz, Vance enthusiastically said he would – but Walz would have to secure the official nomination first.
Vance slammed the Democrats for “pulling a switcheroo” by nominating Harris so late in the race and questioned whether Walz would be the official running mate.
He struggled to come up with similarities between himself and Walz, stating they were both just “white guys from the Midwest.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the ticket was the “most left-wing in American history.”
“Minnesota was ground zero for the BLM riots of 2020. Harris egged it on and Walz sat by and let Minneapolis burn,” he added.
Former US Ambassador Nikki Haley added on X, “Democrats doubling down on the Progressive movement. A win for open borders, socialism, and Iran.”
Walz broke his silence after the news was released, declaring the position an “honor of a lifetime.”
“I’m all in,” he added.
“Vice President Harris is showing us the politics of what’s possible. It reminds me a bit of the first day of school. So, let’s get this done, folks! Join us.”
The governor has already changed his bio on X to – “Running to win this thing with @KamalaHarris.”
DEMS ENDORSE
But as quickly as Republican operatives trashed Walz, Democratic endorsements flourished, giving the new partnership a glowing review.
Prominent Democrats have praised Harris’ decision.
Senator Bernie Sanders was the first to praise the ticket, calling Walz a “great asset.”
“He is a former public school teacher, football coach, and strong union supporter,” Sanders added.
President Biden weighed in on Harris’ decision to tap Walz, reflecting on the moment he decided to ask her to join his campaign.
“The Harris-Walz ticket will be a powerful voice for working people and America’s great middle class,” Biden praised.
“They will be the strongest defenders of our personal freedoms and our democracy. And they will ensure that America continues to lead the world and play its role as the indispensable nation.”
Former President Barack Obama also gave Walz a glowing review calling him an “ideal partner” for Harris.
“Governor Walz doesn’t just have the experience to be vice president, he has the values and the integrity to make us proud,” Obama said in a statement.
He praised Walz for helping families after the pandemic, establishing paid family leave, protecting the right to an abortion, and implementing gun safety laws.
Obama added that Walz’s signature was “his ability to talk like a human being and treat everyone with decency and respect – not all that surprising considering the fact that he served in the National Guard for 24 years and worked as a high school social studies teacher and football coach before being elected to Congress.”
“As governor, he delivered for working families in MN. As VP, he will deliver for the working families of the US.”
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agreed that Walz’s addition to the ticket was an “excellent decision.”
“Together, they will govern effectively, inclusively, and boldly for the American people,” she wrote on X.
“They won’t back down under tight odds, either – from healthcare to school lunch. Let’s do this.”
Harris announced the news on social media, praising Walz for “delivering for working families” in Minnesota.
“It’s great to have him on the team,” she added.
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro was also quick to express his support for the ticket.
He was the frontrunner for Harris’ running mate up until she named Walz this morning.
The Pennsylvania governor told his supporter on X that his work is in the state and not as VP.
“Over the next 90 days, I look forward to traveling all across the Commonwealth to unite Pennsylvanians behind my friends Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and defeat Donald Trump,” he wrote.
Shapiro confirmed that he was a part of the vetting process for VP and was honored to speak with Harris about her vision for the country.
He will attend Harris’ rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday alongside her new running mate.
Harris and Walz will campaign together for the first time in a key swing state that they’ll need to secure in November to take the White House.
